OverNights
The New Programme for Rainbows includes being able to take Rainbows away over night. Lots of conditions apply of course, ratios are lower i.e. 4 Rainbows to 1 adult plus the Guider in charge, but this is a wonderful opportunity to get to know your Rainbows and your leaders better. Its also a great opportunity to do those crafts that take longer than the usual hour long meeting. Your first step will be to purchase a copy of the Rainbow Overnight booklet from Trading, as this tells you everything you need to know about the organisation of where to go and how to go about it.
Experience from years of Brownie overnights tells us that its often easier to plan a sleepover with a theme, and of course the girls always love themes. With this in mind I have put together a few theme ideas for sleepovers for you to dip into. Each Theme includes possible menus, games, crafts and songs, along with printables of colouring pictures and puzzles you might want to keep in reserve for a quick fill in. Due to the high number of graphics on each page it does take a while to load but well worth the wait!!!!!If you have ideas that you have found great with your girls that you'd like to share with other Rainbow Guiders please email them to me and I will include them and of course if you used a theme that worked with your unit please let me know so that we can share ideas.
The new Rainbow Fun Badge for Overnights is now available from: www.guidingessentials.org and is pictured below. The badge can be awarded to Rainbows who have already completed a sleepover but it is only awarded once.
